Incheon National University said three teams that performed well in the PBL program in 2024 won the Incheon Metropolitan City Mayor's Award.
The PBL program (Project-Based Learning) is a comparative program in which students learn team projects and derive the results in order to solve problems encountered in real life. After nine weeks of specifying the topic of team project activities based on the guidance of the supervisor in charge, the participating students will actively derive more realistic alternatives and policies by visiting related organizations or inviting related practitioners and experts to give special lectures. In particular, in the case of deriving prototypes as results, it has been supported since 2024 to be produced using equipment possessed by the MakerSpace of Incheon National University's Engineering Innovation Education Center.
Incheon National University has been conducting the PBL program for six years from 2019 to the present through the University Innovation Support Project, and has signed an agreement with Incheon Metropolitan City to promote cooperation in solving social problems by expanding university student participation to recommend current issues and select and evaluate related tasks.
In this PBL program, three teams, including "Starfish Activated Carbon for Adsorption of Heavy Metals in Plated Wastewater in Incheon" (Professor Lee Joon-seok, Participating Students Lee Ju-young, Heo Ji-won, Park Yu-jin), "Local Children's Eco-Friendly & Energy Learning Program" (Professor Kim Chang-hee, Participating Students Choi Yoo-jung, Kang Na-yeon, Yoon Jeong-jeong, Lee Kun-hee, Kim Chae-bin), and "Culture Tourism Guidance" (Professor Kim Si-yeon, Participating Students Lee Dong-eun, Kim Min-hee, and Cho Jin-sung), won the Incheon Metropolitan City Mayor's Award.
Park Jong-tae, president of Incheon National University, said, "Incheon National University has been continuously running PBL programs to solve current issues in the local community since 2019 and is actively supporting the discovery of creative ideas based on students' major knowledge. We will continue to provide support so that we can contribute to various parts of the community through various and in-depth team project learning."
