Incheon University Holds Ceremony to Name Former Incheon Mayor Choi Ki-sun Honorary Road

Choi Ki-seon, the first mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, conceived the Incheon Free Economic Zone and laid the foundation for the establishment of the National University of Incheon, was held at the Incheon National University Auditorium on Sept. 10 to commemorate the achievements of the late former Incheon Mayor Choi Ki-sun.
The ceremony was held together by Incheon Metropolitan City, Incheon National University, and Choi Ki-sun's memorial committee to commemorate the achievements of the late Mayor Choi Ki-sun, who devoted himself to the development of Incheon. Following the progress report, the first part of the ceremony was held on behalf of Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok, followed by congratulatory speeches and appreciation plaques from Global Urban Government Mayor Hwang Hyo-jin, Incheon Metropolitan City Council Chairman Chung Hae-kwon, Incheon Metropolitan City Superintendent Do Sung-hoon, Incheon National University President Park Jong-tae, and Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Kyo-heung.
In the second part, Park Young-bok, chairman of the Memorial Committee, held a commemorative speech and monument unveiling ceremony at Incheon National University's outdoor plaza, with the bereaved families and relatives of former Incheon Mayor Choi Ki-sun, as well as heads of institutions and organizations, students, and citizens.
At the ceremony, Park Jong-tae, president of Incheon National University, said, "The ceremony to name the honorary road of Choi Ki-sun is a special occasion to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Songdo International City and to shed new light on the history of our universities and communities, and Choi Ki-sun was the first mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City who established plans for the Incheon Free Economic Zone and laid the foundation for the development of Incheon National University. I hope the name of the honorary road will serve as an opportunity to honor the will of Choi Ki-sun for a long time."
